LEST WE FORGET 175 FRUIN, Arthur Giles “Art” WWII Arthur was born in Gerald, Saskatchewan, on March 6, 1916. He took his schooling at Redpath School and worked in the Welwyn area in 1937 and 1939. After a short time in the 101st Battery of Moosomin, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and took Aero Engine Mechanic training and served until October 1945. In 1943, he married Verna Carefoot, and after the war, worked and operated a confectionery store. In 1952, he began to farm and continued until 1981. Art and Verna were both fond of sports and helped many community projects. Art received the Veterans’ Service Medal. He passed away in January 2007 and had been a member of the Welwyn Branch 112 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 46 years. GAMBLE, Arthur Ross WWII Arthur was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on May 17, 1919. He enlisted in the Army with M.D. 12 in Regina on November 30, 1940, and served with the 3 Canadian E+M Pl (A) Royal Canadian Engineers during World War II in England, France, Holland, Belgium and Germany. He participated in Operation Nakket Garden, rescue of British troops on the Arnhem side of the Rhine River. He was discharged on November 8, 1944. He served as District 7 Commander, Zone Commander, Provincial Vice President of The Royal Canadian Legion from Caron Branch (now closed). Arthur passed away on April 15, 2006. FYFE, Darcy RCMP Darcy joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and served as a Constable. He was first posted to Westlock, Alberta.
