LEST WE FORGET 171 FORD, Kenneth Grant SPECIAL DUTY Kenneth was born in 1927 in Tompkins, Saskatchewan. He joined the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in 1950 and went to Korea. In 1952, he returned to Canada and served in Regina, SK and Pictou, NS. In 1960 he served with the UN Peacekeepers in Suez. He served in Canada, Korea, Suez and Germany. He spent a few years in Brandon, Manitoba, then moved to Calgary, Alberta where he joined The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 1 and was very involved with The Legion and community work. Kenneth passed away in 1992. FOWLIE, Joseph WWI Joseph was born in Scotland in 1890 and came to Canada in 1908. He enlisted with the Fort Garry Horse from 1914 to 1918. He married Elizabeth and filed for a homestead in the Megan District, five miles east of Arborfield, and later acquired another quarter of land. Their four children attended Megan School and then Hillsworth. They retired to Arborfield in 1950. Elizabeth passed away in 1961 and Joseph in 1970. FORD (GRIFFITH), Margaret Merle WWII Margaret was born in 1925 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. and joined the Women’s Army Corps in July 1942. She served at various stations in Saskatchewan and Alberta ending up in Vermilion, Alberta. She served in Canada until her discharge in July 1946. She married Russell Ford in May 1947 and raised a family of five boys and three girls. Margaret passed away in 2004 in Aldergrove, BC.
