LEST WE FORGET 155 DUMVILLE, Wilfred Leslie WWI Wilfred was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on August 24, 1896 (family sources say 1894) to George Robert and Harriet (Couchman) Dumville. He grew up and went to school in the Cambridge and Hillburn districts near Rocanville. He was working as a mechanic when he enlisted in the Army with the 217th Overseas in Waldron, Saskatchewan on May 8, 1916. He left Canada on April 19, 1917, aboard the Olympic and was assigned to the 34th Fort Gary Horse unit. He was sent to France on April 11, 1918, with the Canadian Machine Gun Brigade. Wilfred was discharged on June 2, 1919. He married Olga Amelia Hubred on November 23, 1922, and the couple raised six children. Wilfred passed away on May 10, 1976, in Thunder Bay, Ontario. DUNNING, George Ithamer WWII George was born in Port Reeve, Saskatchewan, on July 24, 1916 and joined the #8 General Hospital C.A. (A.F.) in 1941 and served in England, Belgium, France and Holland, and was discharged in 1945. On returning home, he farmed and he and his wife, Jean, raised four children: Robert, Sandra, Larry and Donna. They moved to Regina, Saskatchewan, where he worked for the city until his retirement. George passed away on April 14, 1996. DUNN, Arthur Frederick WWI Arthur was born on May 21, 1894, in Birmingham, England to William Thomas and Ada (Taylor) Dunn. He came to the Perth district near Rocanville in 1905 and his family followed in 1910. Arthur enlisted in the Army on May 31, 1916, in Moosomin, SK with the 217th Expeditionary Force. He was in hospital with a dislocated shoulder on June 8, 1916, and was in the Grey Nuns Hospital in Regina with influenza on December 28, 1916. He sailed from Halifax on June 2, 1917, aboard the Olympic. He was a Gunner with the 3rd Brigade and proceeded to France on August 6, 1917. He had a two-week leave to the United Kingdom on October 2, 1918. He returned from France on March 4, 1919, and was discharged in Vancouver on April 26, 1919. After service, he took medical school training on the west coast and practiced medicine in Ottawa. He married Cicely Caron in Montreal in September 1932, they had three children, William Patrick, Cicely K. (Wilson) and Michael Paul. Dr. Dunn died on November 7, 1960, and is buried at Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa.
