LEST WE FORGET 153 DIXON, Alvin Moody WWI Alvin was born on July 17, 1895, to Richard Joshua and Sarah (Ammerman) Dixon in Mount Forrest, Ontario. The Sixon family moved from Ontario to the Hillburn District near Rocanville in 1897. All five children attended Hillburn School. Alvin enlisted in the Army on April 2, 1915, in Moosomin with the 249th Overseas Battalion. He left Halifax on February 18, 1918, aboard the Saxonia and arrived in England on March 4, 1918. He went to France with the 15th Reserve Battalion on May 11, 1918. He was discharged on July 13, 1919. After the war, he resumed farming and joined the Great War Veterans Association in Rocanville on January 27, 1920. Alvin married Lula Millen of Ahemic Harbour, Ontario and they farmed the home farm raising five children in the Hillburn District. Alvin and Lula retired to Rocanville. Alvin passed away on July 24, 1970, and is buried in Webster Cemetery. DUMVILLE, Harold Ernest WWI Harold was born on March 11, 1898 (family records say 1900) to George Robert and Harriet (Couchman) Dumville in Rocanville. He grew up in Cambridge district near Rocanville. He enlisted in the Army with the 217th Battalion on May 31, 1916, but suffered fainting spells. He trained at Camp Hughes in Canada for two months with the 217th Battalion but was discharged as medically unfit (underage). Harold enlisted for the second time at Nelson, BC on November 11, 1917, at Camp Willows, Victoria but was diagnosed with heart issues (myocarditis/arrythmia) on exertion so was discharged on August 20, 1918. Harold married Louise Leistiko and they had two children. He passed away on December 9, 1977, in Rocker, Silver Bow, Montana. DUFOUR, Francis Xavier WWII Francis was born in 1925 in Stenen, Saskatchewan. He joined the Navy in February 1944 and served in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans. He earned the War Medal 1939-1945, the Canadian Volunteer Overseas Medal and the Pacific Star Medal. Francis passed away on March 10, 1999.
