LEST WE FORGET 127 CLARKE, James Reed WWII James was born on January 29, 1922. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941 and served during World War II until 1946. James passed away on September 22, 2005. CLINE (BELL), Margaret WWII Margaret grew up in Carluke, Scotland. In 1942, at age seventeen, she joined the Auxiliary Territorial Services (ATS), theWomen’s Division of the British Army. She was sent to Cameron Barracks (Highland Regiment) in Inverness to train as a Telephone Operator, a code name for Radar Operator. She worked in that position for three years, but was not allowed to tell anyone what her job was because radar was a new technology and was top secret. In February 1945, Margaret married Peter Cline, a young Canadian Airman. After crossing the Atlantic aboard the Queen Mary, Margaret and their infant daughter Elizabeth joined Peter on the family farm in Zelma, SK in July 1944. Margaret was a member of the SaskatchewanWar Brides’ Association from 1975 until her death in 2014. She was a lifetime member of The Royal Canadian Legion YoungZelma Branch 358. CLARKE, Samuel WWI Samuel was born in Dawley, Shropshire, England, in 1882. He joined the Infantry and served in England, France and Belgium. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion and passed away in 1949.
