LEST WE FORGET 117 CAREFOOT, Leslie Vernon “Les” WWII Les was born on August 3, 1919, in Beverly, Saskatchewan. He was a student until he enlisted one week after his nineteenth birthday and served from August 15, 1938 to June 14, 1945. He was stationed at Yorkshire, England and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia as Flight Sergeant Mechanic with the Royal Canadian Air Force and received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. While in Ontario, he met his wife Jean Bird, got married in 1940 and they had five children. After RCAF, he and other RCAF members owned Matador Farms near Beachy, SK. Les was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Swift Current Branch 56. After farming, he was employed in British Columbia where he drove the World’s Largest Truck called the “Titan”. Les passed away on December 22, 1985. CARR, Robert Addie WWII Addie was born at Strasbourg in 1901 to Lisle and Augusta and purchased a homestead in theWaterview area. He married Letha Denton in 1924 and moved to White Fox and raised six children. He joined the Armed Forces in 1940 and served in England until 1945. The family moved to Prince George in 1947. Addie passed away on February 1, 1983. CARR, Lloyd Weston WWII Lloyd was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, in 1917 and joined the Saskatchewan Horse Regiment-Lord Strathcona Horse Regiment, Armoured Corps Unit from August 20, 1940 to February 1946. He was stationed in Dundurn, SK; Weyburn, SK; Vancouver, BC; Nanaimo, BC; Connaught Lange, Ottawa; Niagara Falls, ON; Camp Borden, ON; Sherbrooke, Quebec; and Debert, Nova Scotia. He did combat duty in England, North Africa, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Lloyd passed away in 2007.
