LEST WE FORGET 99 BONDERUD, Harold Lyle WWII Harold was born on August 25, 1925, in Leroy, Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the Canadian Army Service on November 3, 1943, at the age of eighteen. He departed for England in December 1944. He served in Continental Europe with #33 Transport Coy, 2nd Corps, transferring to occupation forces with #2 Motor Ambulance Coy, 3rd Division. He later transferred to 16th Canadian General Hospital Transport Section. He returned to Canada in April 1946. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Leroy Branch 309, serving in different positions, finally as President. Harold passed away in January 2005. BOUGHNER, Lysle Stewart WWII Stewart was a Saskatchewan farm boy who wanted to serve his country. His mother died in childbirth. He was raised by his aunt and uncle. Developing rheumatic fever in 1939, he was finally accepted in February 1943, at the age of nineteen. He shipped out in August assigned as a rifleman to the South Saskatchewan Regiment, 6 Brigade, 2nd Division. They were to reinforce the D-Day landings, but weather held them up until July. His unit undertook the SW sweep around Caen where, unsupported, they fought a desperate battle with 2 Panzer Divisions on Verrière Ridge on July 20 suffering heavy casualties. Stewart survived that, but was later killed on August 4, 1944, on a fighting patrol to Verrière Village. BOODRAM, Steve Steve, born in Trinidad West Indies, immigrated to Canada and was raised in Edmonton, Alberta. Upon graduation, he attended CFB Borden in the logistics trade (MSE OP). Upon graduation, he was posted to CFB Chilliwack and then to CFB Cold Lake. While at CFB Cold Lake, he was seconded to CFB Petawawa in 1989 to the Canadian Airborne Regiment and served with the Regiment in Namibia on a UN peacekeeping mission. Upon completion of his UN Tour, Steve returned to CFB Cold Lake where in 1992 he discharged from the Canadian Forces at the rank of Corporal. In 1992, he joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police completing his training in Regina and was posted to Regina Detachment, Maidstone Detachment, North Battleford Highway Patrol, Kindersley Detachment and ended his career in Maple Creek Saskatchewan at the rank of Corporal. While posted to Kindersley, Steve was part of the team that stood up the 365 Lloyd Sparky Ament Air Cadet Squadron in that community. Steve joined the Cadet Instructor Cadre where he attained the rank of Lieutenant. While posted to Kindersley, Steve served with Branch 57 of The Royal Canadian Legion and continues to be part of the Legion. Saskatchewan has become home and the Legion, a family.
