LEST WE FORGET 69 BERVEN, Bruce Martin WWII Bruce was born in Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941, obtained his wings at Yorkton in 1942, and left for overseas immediately, serving in several theatres of war including the Middle East. Sergeant Pilot Bruce Berven received the Distinguished Flying Medal for services while on operational duty. He was reported missing in action and was presumed dead. Besides his parents, he left behind three brothers, Wing Commander J. L. Berven in the East, Stewart with the RCC and Leonard, farming in Qu’Appelle. BIEBER, Wilfred A. “Wilf” WWII Wilf was born on September 14, 1922, in Winnipeg, Manitoba and grew up in Cymric, Saskatchewan. He served in the Navy on HMCS Ste. Therese during World War II. In his heirlooms, there is a letter dated July 30, 1945, in Port of Spain, Trinidad, informing his family he should be home by the fall of 1945. He was past President of The Royal Canadian Legion Melford Branch 30 in 1989 and 1990. Wilf passed away on October 16, 2006. BERWICK, David WWII David was born on March 23, 1923, in Swift Current, Saskatchewan and moved to Clyde, Alberta, in 1933. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1941 to 1945. After the war, David worked for Canadian Pacific Airlines in Hay River, NWT. He joined the Department of Transportation in 1951 and worked in Snag and Teslin in the Yukon before transferring to Edmonton in 1958. David passed away in Calgary on September 26, 2009.
