LEST WE FORGET 371 WHITING, Frederick William WWI &WWII Frederick was born in Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan, on August 12, 1894. He joined the 16th Light Horse “C” Squadron in 1910, and was discharged in 1914. Then he joined the Canadian Field Artillery on October 11, 1916, and was discharged on May 30, 1919. In World War II, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on June 13, 1941, and was discharged on August 3, 1943, after serving in Canada, England and France. He was wounded in France on September 2, 1918, and was awarded the British War Medal, the Victory Medal (WWI), the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, and the War Medal (WWII). Frederick passed away on February 1, 1982. WIGG, Florence WWII Florence was born in Elfros, Saskatchewan, on July 31, 1914. She enlisted as a cook in the Army in 1942, and served in Canada. She was married and passed away on February 20, 1962. WIEBE (FINLAYSON), Bessie WWII Bessie was born in Regina, Saskatchewan in 1921. She joined the Air Force, No. 1 Squadron and served in Canada. A recipient of the British Empire Medal, Bessie passed away in 1969.
