LEST WE FORGET 367 WELSH, Eric Victor WWII Eric was born in Ituna, Saskatchewan, in 1914. He joined the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps with the rank of Corporal serving in France and Holland. He passed away in 1983. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legon Abernethy Branch 26. WHITEHORN, William G. “Bill” PEACETIME Bill was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan in 1943. He enlisted in Chatham, England on May 2, 1963 with the Home Counties Brigade. He had a varied career in the Army, serving in the Infantry Battalion and the Army Air Corps during Peacetime. He was also an experienced motor mechanic. During his years, he was posted to the Caribbean, Hong Kong, Borneo, Northern Ireland, Canada, Ethiopia, and Cyprus. Bill achieved the rank of Sergeant and was awarded the General Service Medal 1962 with Borneo Clasp. He was medically discharged from the Queen’s Division on September 25, 1974. He returned to Canada in 1976, moving to Oak Lake in 1985 where he remained until his death in March 2012. WESTVELT, Lenard Olaf WWII Lenard was born in Ratcliff, Saskatchewan, in 1920. He joined the Army as a signal man, serving in Canada and England. He passed away in 2007. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Lintlaw Branch 23 for more than 60 years.
