LEST WE FORGET 357 WALKER, James Hutcheson WWII James was born on October 12, 1918, in Wawota, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army in 1939 and received his training in Quebec. He went overseas and trained in England as a Trooper for the 8th Canadian Reconnaissance Regiment, 14th Canadian Hussars, and took part in the invasion of Normandy on D-Day going into Caen, Falaise, the Seine area and Antwerp. He arrived back in Canada in the fall of 1945 having served 62 months overseas. He had signed up to go to Japan, but the war ended. In 1965, he had extensive surgery for cancer and passed away on April 4, 1966. James is buried in Wawota. WALTERS, Edwin Arthur WWII Edwin was born in 1916 in Bulyea, Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the Canadian Army and served in Canada until his discharge in March 1946. He married Catherine in March 1946 and in 1947 they went to the Abernethy District to farm. He was an active member of The Royal Canadian Legion Balcarres Branch 84 for 42 years and held many offices. He was also an active member of The Lions Club. Edwin passed away on October 20, 1994. WALSH, Ruth May WWII Ruth was born on July 26, 1924, in Vanguard, Saskatchewan. She enlisted in World War II with the Canadian Army on October 8, 1942 in Regina, Saskatchewan. She served with No. 3 Company, Canadian Women’s Army Corps until 1943. Ruth passed away on December 6, 2003.
