She served at the Headquarters in Ottawa until her discharge. Helen passed away in 2001. WALEN, Walter WWII Walter was born in 1918 in the Plato area of Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the Navy in 1940 and trained in Esquimalt, BC. He served as a First Class Stoker in Canada until his discharge.Walter passed away in 1949, the result of an accident in Kelowna, BC. WALEN (JACKSON), Helga WWII Helga was born in 1924 in the Plato Saskatchewan area. She enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force Women’s Division and served as Air Craft Dispatcher and General Secretary in Canada until her discharge. Helga passed away in 2005.
