LEST WE FORGET 343 THORLEIFSON, Bjarni Kristinn “Barney” WWII Bjarni was born in Mozart, Saskatchewan, the son of Clemi and Christine Thorleifson. Barney enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in Winnipeg on February 10, 1941; trained at Trenton and Brandon before going overseas to serve in England and France. On August 21, 1937, he married Florence Martin. Prior to his death, Barney made his home in Baldur for several years while earning his livelihood as a salesperson. TORGERSON, Bernard “Barney” WWII Barney was born in Turtleford, Saskatchewan, on January 9, 1917. He joined the Army Service Corps in 1943 and served in Canada and Italy. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Ponoka Branch 66. Barney passed away in 1992. TIPPE, William Adam “Bill” WWII Bill was born in Burstall, Saskatchewan, on November 4, 1917. He enlisted on April 22, 1942, in the Army in Regina, Saskatchewan, and served in Canada, France, and Germany. He was awarded the 1939-1945 Service Star, the France and Germany Star, the King George VI Defence Medal, and the Canada 19391945 Voluntary Service Medal. Bill married Irene Whitlow after the war and managed the Imperial Oil Bulk Station and finally bought and operated Bill’s ESSO Garage. Bill passed away in 1968.
