LEST WE FORGET 339 THACYK, Joseph Arthur WWII Joseph was born on March 26, 1920, in Lanigan, Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the RCAF in 1941. After training in Canada, he was posted overseas to the United Kingdom in February 1942, serving at various bases. He met and married Doreen Mitchell at Leeming Air Force Base. He was honourably discharged on October 18, 1945 with the rank of Corporal. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Watson Branch 272 for over thirty years (Life Member), serving one term as Branch President. After celebrating his 50th wedding anniversary and 75th birthday in 1995, Joe passed away on April 3, 1995. THOMPSON, Hans WWI Hans served during World War I from 1914 until 1919. THIBODEAU, Elmer Louis WWII Elmer was born in Saskatchewan in 1918. He served in the Army with the Second Division Engineers from 1942 to 1945 during World War II in France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. His work involved handling all types of explosives, and he remained in Europe after the war removing bombs. Elmer also built bridges. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 65 in Killam. Elmer passed away in 2008.
