LEST WE FORGET 337 TEMPLETON, Robert WWII Robert was born in 1918. He enlisted with the Canadian Army during World War II and served in Canada until his discharge. Robert passed away in 1989. THACYK (MITCHELL), Doreen Marie WWII Doreen was born on May 21, 1920, in Hull, England. She served in the British Air Force with the rank of LACW, and served in the WAAF as a cook. While stationed at Leeming Air Force Base, she met Joe Thacyk of Lanigan, SK. They married on St. Patrick’s Day in 1945 at St. Augustine Church in England. She was discharged from the BAF in late 1945 and the war bride set sail for Canada on her first wedding anniversary. She was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for seven years and was also a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary. Doreen passed away on August 26, 1998. TERRY, Gordon WWI Gordon was born in Carnduff, Saskatchewan, in 1896. He enlisted in World War I with the Canadian Army and served with the 151st Battalion in Europe. He was a member of the Great War Veterans Association and was a founding member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 11 in Vermilion, where he served for over fifty years. Gordon passed away in 1982.
