LEST WE FORGET 333 SYRENNE, Roland Adrien WWII Roland was born on March 11, 1920, in Fannystelle, Manitoba. He was conscripted into the army on December 4, 1941. He served with the South Saskatchewan Regiment in Holland, Germany, Canada, England, and Belgium before his discharge on January 24, 1946. He received the France and Germany Star and the Star for volunteering. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Ponteix Branch 297. The Legion was always the love of his life. Roland passed away on November 14, 1994. TANAKA, Minoru “Morgan” WWII Morgan was born in 1919 in Meridian, Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the Army and served with the A Battery, 10 Armored Regiment, Fort Garry Horse, Royal Canadian Armored Corps in Normandy and Germany. Morgan was killed in action in 1945 in Germany. He is buried in Groesbeek, Holland, Canadian War Cemetery. He received the following Medals: Memorial Cross, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, War Medal 1939-1945, 1939-1945 Star and France and Germany Star. Tanaka Lake in Saskatchewan is named in his memory. TANAKA, Harry Takeo WWII Harry was born in 1920 in Meridian, Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the Army and served with the 1st Armoured Brigade, Ontario Tank Regiment in England, North Africa, Sicily, Belgium and Holland. He received the Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, War Medal 1939-1945, 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star and the Italy Star. Harry passed away in 2000.
