LEST WE FORGET 331 SUTHERLAND, Emily Barager WWII Emily was born on July 20, 1922, in Ponteix, Saskatchewan. She enlisted in the Army in 1942 and met her husband to be, Vilas McAdams in 1943 and they married in 1945. She was stationed in Maple Creek, SK, Sussex, NB and Regina, SK and was discharged from the Army in 1945. Emily passed away in 1985 and is buried in Queen’s Park, Calgary, AB. SWEATMAN, Hugh Price WWII Hugh was born in Melville, Saskatchewan, on February 27, 1918. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on June 23, 1942, and serviced aircraft engines while in England, Canada and Germany from fighter planes up to bombers. He was discharged on April 25, 1946 and passed away on October 17, 2005. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Kelliher Branch 219 for 37 years. SWARBRICK, Clifford “Cliff” WWII Cliff was born on the farm in Unity, Saskatchewan in 1919. He enlisted in April 1942 in Regina and served with the 65th Canadian Tank Transport Company in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Some of his training was in Red Deer and Regina. His favorite story was of working 72 hours straight moving tanks during the Battle of Bologne. Cliff married Violet Seymour of Barnett, England in 1945. There were many reunions of the 65th over the years. He spent most of his life farming in Saskatchewan and moved to Alberta in 1956 to continue farming until 1980. He then retired to Lacombe to enjoy his retirement until September 2014 when he passed away a month short of his 95th birthday. Cliff was a 69-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 79 Lacombe.
