LEST WE FORGET 323 ST. PIERRE, Gerard WWII Gerard was born in 1924 in Prud’homme, Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the Navy and served with Submarine Patrol, Marine Command in New Brunswick. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion. Gerard passed away in 2004. STEFFENSON, Erhardt Peter “Hardy” WWII Hardy was born on June 18, 1917, in Carnduff, Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the Army in 1941 and received his basic training in Maple Creek. He was a member of Edmonton Fusiliers and served at various posts across Canada. He received training as a mechanic and rose to the rank of Sergeant. His last days in the Army were spent in Dundurn, SK, where he taught driver training to university students in Saskatoon. One of his pupils was hockey legend Gordie Howe. He received his discharge in 1945. Hardy passed away on July 26, 2004. STAINBROOK, Wilbur Henry WWII Wilbur was born on August 20, 1922, in Tribune, Saskatchewan. His family moved to Alberta in 1936 where they bought a quarter section in Butte. Wilbur attended Clear Creek School and enlisted in the Army in 1942 where he served in Victoria and Alaska until his discharge in 1947. After leaving the Army, Wilbur married and took up farming in Butte where he and his wife, Betty, raised three girls. They farmed in the Butte area for forty years before moving to Rocky Mountain House, AB in 1987. Wilbur passed away on March 6, 2015.
