LEST WE FORGET 297 SARTISON, Jake WWII Jake was born on July 30, 1915, in Hollinquest, Saskatchewan. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps in July 1940. He served in Canada, achieving the rank of Corporal, before being discharged in July 1946. He served as President of Vauxhall Branch 193 of The Royal Canadian Legion from 1966 to 1969. Jake passed away in Calgary on June 4, 1991. SCHMIDT, Gordon W. PEACETIME Gordon was born in Humbolt, Saskatchewan, in 1933. He joined the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps serving in Korea, Canada, Egypt and Germany. He passed away in 2009 and was a member of Prince Edward Branch 81 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 23 years. SAVILLE, Joseph Lythgoe WWII Joseph was born in Spyhill, Saskatchewan, in 1904 (at that time Saskatchewan was part of the NWT). He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on June 19, 1941 and served as a Flight Sergeant in theWhitehorse, Yukon Unit supervising maintenance of works and buildings at the Whitehorse Airport. He was discharged in 1945. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for 48 years in Innisfail, Alberta, and in Sydney and Duncan in BC. Joseph passed away on April 11, 1993.
