LEST WE FORGET 271 PARENT, Albert WWII Albert was born on February 21, 1914, in Zenon Park, Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the Army Forestry Corps on July 5, 1942 and served in Canada until his discharge in November 1945. After the war, he married and moved to Alberta. Albert passed away on June 9, 1976. PARKINSON, William Stewart WWI William was born on January 23, 1890, in Whitewood, Saskatchewan. He enlisted in World War I with the Canadian Army on September 3, 1914 and served with Lord Strathcona’s Horse C Squadron in Europe. He was wounded twice in France. He was discharged on July 2, 1919 and received the Distinguished Conduct Medal. He was a Charter and Life Member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 100 in St. Paul.William passed away on July 28, 1959. PARK, James William WWII James was born in Broadacres, Saskatchewan on May 13, 1924. He enlisted in the Army in December 1943 and was deployed in July 1944. He served with the 1st Armoured Personnel Carrier Regiment, RCAC in Holland and in Germany during World War II. During the breaching of the Siegfried Line, James’ tank came under severe mortar and shell fire. He was killed in action during this operation on February 9, 1945. James is buried in the Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery.
