LEST WE FORGET 201 LEMIEUX, Gerard J. WWII Gerard was born in St. Hippolyte, Saskatchewan on July 22, 1925 and lived in Paradis Hill, SK for a few years. In 1938, he moved to McCreary, Manitoba where he finished his schooling. In the fall of 1943, Gerard enlisted in the Army and served on active service with the Canadian Army from April 8, 1944 to November 27, 1946. At the time of demobilization, he was Lance/Corporal in the Canadian Provost Corps. His theaters of service were in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star, War Medal 1939-1945 and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. After the war, he farmed in Ste. Amelie, MB for a year. In 1948, he moved to Dauphin and was employed by Manitoba Dairy and Poultry Coop for eighteen years. He married Lucille Therrien and had four boys and two girls. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Dauphin Branch 20 for thirty years. In 1966, he purchased Dauphin Taxi and was owner/operator until his sudden death in 1982 at the age of 56 in Dauphin. LENTON, Edwin Claude WWII Edwin Claude was born in 1920 in Canada. The family eventually returned to England. He trained and served as a pilot in the Royal Air Force in the United Kingdom. He married Jean Goodwin (1917-1992) and they had a daughter, Cynthia Gail (1943-2017). Edwin Claude passed away in 1964. LENTON, Edwin Ashley WWI Edwin Ashley was born on October 8, 1886, in Bournemouth, Northamptonshire, England. He was also a pharmaceutical chemist in England. He homesteaded in Saskatchewan in 1911 and joined the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force in December 1914. He married Mable in England. Their son, Edwin Claude (1920-1964) was born in Canada, possibly Montreal. The family eventually returned to England. Edwin passed away in 1972.
