LEST WE FORGET 191 KANTEN, Walter WWII Walter was born in Lisieux, Saskatchewan on November 5, 1917, to Gilbert and Helen Kanten. His family moved to homestead in Caroline, Alberta on November 4, 1932. Walter joined the Army in 1941 and was assigned to The King’s Own Rifles. He was later transferred to the South Alberta Regiment and sent overseas. He was discharged in December 1945. Walter married Iva Tricker in 1941. He was a very honoured member of The Royal Canadian Legion Caroline Branch 177 and Branch 104 in Innisfail, AB. Walter passed away in Red Deer, AB on November 23, 1987, at the age of seventy. KENNEDY, John Egan WWII John was born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan in 1920. He enlisted in World War II with the Canadian Army. He trained as a mobile soldier and served as a driver and mechanic in the United Kingdom, Continental Europe, and the Central Mediterranean. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 46 in Fort Macleod for 55 years. John passed away on January 1, 2002. KAZAKOFF, Nick Mike WWII Nick was born in Saskatchewan in 1907. He enlisted in World War II with the Canadian Army in Regina, Saskatchewan, on November 10, 1941. He served in Canada and was discharged in January 1946, receiving the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Bowness Branch 238 for many years. Nick passed away on February 16, 1979.
