LEST WE FORGET 183 JEANNOTTE, Marcel David WWII Marcel was born in Cut Knife, Saskatchewan, on October 23, 1916. He enlisted with the Air Force on November 13, 1940 and served in Canada and Newfoundland. He was discharged on October 5, 1945, and received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and ML. He passed away on December 29, 1977. JOHNS, William A. WWI William was born in Regina, Saskatchewan in 1892. He joined the Canadian Light Horse and was killed in action in Belgium in 1917. JINKS, John J. WWI John was born in Renfrewshire, Scotland, in 1891. He enlisted in the 68th Battalion Canadian Expeditionary Force on December 18, 1915 and served seven months in France with the 5th Battalion. While in France, he was wounded three times, twice in one leg and once in the other leg. John was gassed at the last incident when his gas mask was blown off. His wounds entitled him to wear two gold casualty stripes. He also has a Victory and General Service Medal. He was discharged on May 11, 1918, with a 40% service disability. Because of the gassing, his health was affected, and he suffered pain until his death in 1963. John joined The Royal Canadian Legion Earl Grey Branch on April 12, 1930.
