LEST WE FORGET 181 IRVINE, Stan WWII Stan was born in Maymont, Saskatchewan, on November 16, 1918. He enlisted with the Army in 1943, serving in Canada. He trained in coast artillery and served as assistant cook. After his discharge in 1946, he began farming in the Richard area. Stan received the Defence Medal and War Medal 1939-1945. He passed away on December 29, 2000. Stan was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Speers Branch 116 and North Battleford Branch 70. JASIENIUK, Peter WWII Peter was born in Krydor on August 27, 1916. He enlisted with the Army on May 1, 1942, and served in Canada, England and Italy. He was discharged on February 16, 1946, and received the Italy Star, 1939-1945 Star, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. Upon his discharge, he came home to farm. Peter passed away on December 28, 1998. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Speers Branch 116 for 32 years. JACKSON, Douglas WWII Douglas was born on December 30, 1918, in Viceroy, Saskatchewan. He was raised in the Grandview area southwest of Millet, Alberta. He enlisted in the Army during World War II and served for four years. In 1944, he was posted to the Coastal Defence Unit in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Following the war, he moved to Kelowna, BC where he married and bought a store. In 1966, he bought a dairy farm in Armstrong, BC. Douglas also worked for the local school district until his retirement. He passed away in Vernon, BC on July 22, 1986 and is buried in Armstrong, BC.
