LEST WE FORGET 177 HRYCYK, George T. WWII George was born inYorkton, Saskatchewan in 1921. In 1943, as a 21-year-old, he made the trip to Edmonton and joined the army. He served in Canada, United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He was discharged to return to civil life on June 24, 1946 as a Lance Corporal. He received the Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, and War Medal 1939-1945. He spent the remainder of his life in Terrace, British Columbia working as a steel worker. George passed away in May 2018. HUGHES, Patrick John WWII Patrick was born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, on June 3, 1919. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Engineers Corps on February 21, 1941, serving in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He was discharged on December 5, 1945, and received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the 1939-1945 Star, the France and Germany Star, and the Defence Medal. Following his discharge, he returned to the land and took up farming, got married and had a family of four. Patrick passed away on August 17, 1987. HUARD, Clifford WWII Clifford was born in Lashburn, Saskatchewan, in 1923, and around 1935, his family moved to Stump Lake, Saskatchewan, where his folks had a homestead. He joined the Army in 1940 and then transferred to Paratroopers training in Benning, Georgia, USA. He went overseas and was killed on his first jump over Germany in 1944. Clifford is buried overseas.
