LEST WE FORGET 145 HALL, Percy Fairbanks WWI Percy was born in Newcastle, England, in 1980. He served the Canadian Army with the Canadian Engineers, 6th Field Company. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Earl Grey Branch 137. HAMILTON, Robert J. WWII Robert was born in Vanguard, Saskatchewan on May 29, 1917. He enlisted in the Army on March 23, 1942 and served as a 2nd Division Signalman in Canada, Britain and Northwest Europe. He was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the War Medal 1939-1945. He returned to Canada on January 11, 1946 and in 1951, married Florence Clark with whom he had seven children. Robert held a number of different jobs through the years while running a small farm in the Lake Max area and he retired from maintaining the International Peace Garden in 1982. Robert was a member of Boissevain Branch 10 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 57 years and he passed away in 2003. HALLEN, Edgar A. WWII Edgar, son of George and Annie Hallen, was born in Rosetown, Saskatchewan, on March 29, 1924. She enlisted with the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion in March 1944, training in Petawawa and Shilo and serving in Canada, England, France, Holland and Germany. He also was part of the 12th Manitoba Dragoons for two years prior to enlisting in the artillery in September 1943. In April, he made a Victory Bond jump in Minnedosa and went overseas in July 1944. Edgar was killed in action on May 7, 1945, at age 21 and is buried at the Canadian War Cemetery in Holland. Edgar was a member of the Neepawa Branch 23 of The Royal Canadian Legion.
