LEST WE FORGET 137 GRAY, Angus WWII Angus Gray was born in Outlook, Saskatchewan on November 5, 1923, to Ernest and Laura Maude Gray. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in Esquimalt in January 1941. He attained the rank of Petty Officer upon his release from the Navy. Subsequently, Angus worked with the Government of Canada as a customs and excise officer in Halifax. Angus was married to Florence Elizabeth Boudreau. He died in Victoria, British Columbia on April 10, 1976 and is buried in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia. GRAY, George Wilbur WWI George was born in Hamiota, Manitoba on July 9, 1881, one of two three sons and four daughters of Hugh William and Agnes (Henderson) Grey. He listed his address as Outlook when he enlisted in the 28th Battalion in Moose Jaw on October 28, 1914. He was 29. He embarked from Canada on May 29, 1915 and served in England and France for a total of four years and six months, during which time he suffered a gunshot wound to his shoulder near Havre, France on September 4, 1918. He returned to Halifax on May 23, 1919 and got work with the Canadian National Railroad as an engineer in Saskatchewan. His name appears on a Soldier Homestead Grant in Alberta on November 1, 1928. He probably moved to British Columbia quite soon after joining the railroad. It appears that he never married. George Wilbur Gray died in Vancouver on December 11, 1985, at the age of 98. He is buried at the North Shore Crematorium. GRAY, Elizabeth Jane “Dolly” WWII Elizabeth Jane Gray, better known as Dolly, was born to Ernest and Laura Maude (Taylor) Gray in Moncton, New Brunswick on August 16, 1919. For much of his career, her father worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway in Outlook. Dolly joined the Women’s Division of the RCAF and served as a telephone operator, stationed in Moncton. She married Russell Charles Patterson on May 5, 1943. Russell served in Canada’s Army during World War II. After her release from the RCAF, but before her husband’s release from the Army, Dolly returned to Outlook where she worked for the Post Office. The couple then relocated to Espanola, Ontario.
