LEST WE FORGET 133 GERMSCHEID, Philip Parker WWII Philip was born in Loon Lake, Saskatchewan in 1922. He enlisted in the army and served as a rifleman with the Regina Rifles in Europe during World War II. Philip retired in Calgary, Alberta until his death on August 26, 1998. GIBSON, Kenneth Edgar “Ed” WWII Ed was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1912. He lived in Gadsby, Alberta with his wife and daughter, where he owned a pharmacy. He joined the NAPM Calgary Regiment (Tank), serving from July 1940 to June 1941, leaving with the rank of Corporal. In June 1941, Ed joined the Royal Canadian Air Force. He trained in St. Hubert, Quebec and Trenton, Ontario before being posted to Edmonton Manning Depot and then later to Calgary where he served as a disciplinarian and a PT/drill Instructor. He was discharged with the rank of Flight Sergeant. Ed lived in Stettler, AB after returning to civilian life. He worked in several retail businesses but is remembered most as the Manufacturer’s Life Insurance agent from 1949 to 1967. In 1967, Ed opened an Income Tax Service for Stettler area clients and retired in 1980. Ed passed away in Stettler on July 7, 1990 and is interred in the Stettler cemetery. GEROLAMY, John Milburn “Joker” WWI John was born in 1895 in Greenway, Manitoba, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Gerolamy. Following enlistment in 1914 and training in Canada, he was sent to France for two and a half years. He was wounded in the chest and received shrapnel in the leg. He was in hospital in England when the Armistice was signed. He was with the 10th Canadian Mounted Rifles of the 22nd Battalion. Joker married Myrtle I. Sinclair in Greenway. They moved to Rocanville, Saskatchewan and they had three children: Erma Mae, Dr. S.B. Gerolamy (deceased) and Bruce. He also had a stepson, Lynn Blake. Marjorie Blake of Rocanville became his second wife.
