LEST WE FORGET 123 FINNER, Russell L. WWII Russell was born in Ginnette, Saskatchewan in 1913. He served overseas in the Army with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles in World War II. He was killed in action in France in 1944. FLAVELL, George Benjamin WWI George was born in Rushden, Northamptonshire, England on February 14, 1889, to Joseph and Elizabeth Flavell. He had four siblings: Annie, Minnie, Alfred, and Ernest. He helped the family farm in the Marieton District. He enlisted in the Army on March 23, 1915 in Regina. He served with the Canadian Infantry, Quebec Regiment, 13th Battalion in France. He was killed in action on September 5, 1916 at the Somme. He is buried at Vimy, Département du Pasde-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France. FLAVELL, Ernest John WWI Ernest was born on February 17, 1894 in Rushden, Northamptonshire, England. He came to Canada and farmed in the Marieton District with his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth, and siblings, Annie, Minnie, Alfred and George. He enlisted in the Army on March 23, 1915 in Regina. He served in France during World War I with the Canadian Expeditionary Force as a commissioned officer in charge of transporting Prisoners of War from Halifax to Medicine Hat. He married Jessie Baird Spiers on August 7, 1918, returned to farm in Marieton and moved to Lethbridge, Alberta in 1946. Ernest worked in the nursery greenhouse at the experimental farm until his retirement. His first wife passed away in 1959 and he married Florence Lauretta Flavell in 1960. Ernest passed away on November 17, 1963 and is buried in Lethbridge.
