LEST WE FORGET 37 ANDERSON, George Albert WWII George was born in Drinkwater, Saskatchewan to William and Christine Anderson on September 11, 1921. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on October 16, 1940 and was stationed in St. Thomas for six months before going overseas on January 1, 1941. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the Maple Leaf on January 15, 1944. He served on the coastal command in the UK, Ireland. He was discharged on August 20, 1945. When he returned, he farmed near Neville before taking his AI course. He moved his family to North Battleford where he worked as an AI tech and then went on to painting buildings, interior and exterior, before going into maintenance at Saskatchewan Hospital. George had three sons and two daughters. He was a proud member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 9. George passed away and was interred in the Veterans section of the Battleford Cemetery on March 8, 1989. ARCAND, Joseph WWII Joseph was born on May 4, 1905, in Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps on November 17, 1941 and was discharged on November 16, 1944 after serving in Canada and Britain. He received the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the War Medal 1939-1945. Joseph passed away in 1976. ARCAND, John Malasyppe WWI John Malasyppe was born on June 13, 1891, in Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the 1st Depot Battalion Saskatchewan Regiment, the Canadian Expeditionary Force and the 12th Battalion, Canadian Garrison Regiment on May 7, 1918 and was discharged on March 3, 1919 after serving in Canada.
