LEST WE FORGET 353 TEMPLETON, Ernest “Ernie” WWII Ernie lived at Hughton, Saskatchewan with his parents and sisters Grace and Irene. His father ran the Red and White Food Store. Ernie worked for Freeman Oliphant after school and on weekends. Ernie and his sister Grace joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and remained in the service until the war was over. While stationed in Edmonton, Ernie looked up and old high school chum of his and they were married soon after. They settled in Abbotsford, British Columbia raising five children. Ernest passed away of a sudden heart attack while on vacation in California in 1991 at the age of 66. THOMPSON, Clayton E. “Earl” WWII Earl was one of four children born to Olga and Andrew Thompson who came to Elrose from North Dakota in 1909 to homestead. Earl joined the Royal Canadian Navy and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands on a sub-chaser chasing Japanese submarines. Earl married Phyllis on June 8, 1945 in Victoria, British Columbia, returning to Elrose to farm after his discharge. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Elrose Branch 206. Earl passed away on July 17, 2003. TEMPLETON, Grace WWII Grace was the oldest of three children. She lived with her family at Hughton, Saskatchewan. Her father ran the Red and White Food Store. Grace completed high school and took normal school in Saskatoon. She and her brother Ernie joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and remained in the services until the war was over. After the war, she took up many various occupations over the years, residing in Nanaimo, British Columbia. She passed away on June 14, 2004, at the age of 82. She never married.
