LEST WE FORGET 253 KUTZ, Emil J. WWII Emil Kutz was born on February 14, 1900 in Medford, Wisconsin. At the age of thirteen, he spent 27 days travelling in a boxcar with his father and brother, Arnold, until they landed in Rosetown, Saskatchewan on March 21, 1913. On October 29, 1929, he married Marie Marchand and worked for Hunt Gaber Ltd until 1941 when he joined the Canadian Army. He was stationed in Regina, Number 12 District Depot and remained there until January 15, 1947. Emil passed away in 1989. LaMARCHE, Edward Lee “Eddie” SPECIAL DUTY AREA Edward LaMarche was born in Elrose, Saskatchewan. He joined the Armed Forces first as part of the Reserves with the North Saskatchewan Regiment and then as part of the Regular Forces with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. He has been on three peacekeeping missions, once in Croatia and twice in Bosnia. During the summer of 2003, he was part of the Armed Forces that went to British Columbia to fight the forest fires. At present time, he is stationed in Winnipeg, Manitoba. LAFOND, Lily Beatrice WWII Lily was born in Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, Saskatchewan, on November 13, 1924. She joined the Canadian Women’s Army Corps on March 31, 1943, serving in Canada. She was discharged on February 18, 1944 and received the War Medal 1939-1945. She passed away on September 13, 1963.
