LEST WE FORGET 209 Saskatchewan division, sat on the Veterans Affairs Canada Liaison Committee and was the Chair of the 1995 Canada Remembers Program in cooperation with the Sask Protocol Office and Veterans Affairs Canada. Harold’s volunteerism included serving on the Boards of the Chamber of Commerce, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Red Cross, Wascana Winter Club, Regina Exhibition Association, RDBID, RCL Regina Branch 001, RCL Sask Command and Corps of Commissionaires. In addition, Harold has been involved with community clubs such as the Junior Chamber of Commerce, Girl Guides and Boy Scouts, Kinsmen, and the Family Service Bureau. Military and Business Service has earned Harold numerous awards throughout his life, including the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation Award, Regina Chamber of Commerce Paragon Lifetime Achievement Award, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs Commendation Award, and the Caring Canadian Award. Harold passed away on November 26, 2020. About ten days prior, an ultrasound had found a large mass on his liver which he was unaware of. He was 99 years old. He is survived by his loving wife Jan; his children Kelly, Colleen and Maureen from a previous marriage; Jan’s children Marina, Dana, Marc and Andre; and numerous grandchildren. Harold will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, friendship and service to the Community and Country. He was a grounded gentleman always very willing to help people. He was a well-known advocate for war Veterans and current serving Veterans, always more concerned about helping his fellow Veterans than he ever was about himself.
