LEST WE FORGET 157 FIDDLER, Percival Raymond “Percy” WWII & KOREANWAR Percy was born in Cudworth, Saskatchewan on March 3, 1927. He enlisted in the Army and was sent to England and served until the end of the war. During the Korean conflict, he again volunteered for service. Percy passed away on May 20, 1996. FIDLER, Ernest Edward WWII Ernest was born in Fish Creek, Saskatchewan on June 5, 1916. He enlisted with the Army on June 8, 1940. He began his training with Royal Canadian Engineers in Dundurn, Saskatchewan and was then sent to England in February 1941. He served with the 14th Field Company, Royal Canadian Engineers and landed in Sicily in 1943, and then his unit continued into Italy. As a D-Day Dodger, he was sent to France in February 1945. He served in Nor thwest Europe, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany before the conflict ended, and he was wounded twice. He was discharged on October 19, 1945. Once he returned to Canada, he moved to Hamilton, Ontario where he worked in the steel mills until he retired. Ernest passed away in Hamilton on July 3, 1985. FIDDLER, Pierre “Peter” WWII Peter was born in Fish Creek, Saskatchewan on June 22, 1903. He enlisted with the Prince Albert Volunteers in 1941. Peter was sent to England and served as a motor mechanic during World War II. He was discharged into civil life in 1944. Peter passed away on July 20, 1976.
