LEST WE FORGET 153 FAGRIE, Olaf WWII Olaf was born in Norway in 1901. He joined the Canadian Army serving overseas and England during World War II. His brother, Harold, was killed overseas in France in 1944. FEARNSIDE, James WWII James Fearnside was born on August 1, 1920, in Bounty, Saskatchewan. His parents, James and Margaret (Bell) farmed south of Bounty until they moved to Saskatoon in 1933. Originally James’ parents came from Scotland. James and his siblings Charles, Gordon and Margaret were all born in Bounty. Before he enlisted in Saskatoon on February 20, 1941, James worked as a clerk at a Safeway store (1936-1938) and a cashier at Canadian Packers (1939-1941). He trained as a pilot with the Royal Canadian Air Force, obtaining his wings at the Number 4 Training School in Saskatoon, and served as Warrant Officer Class II with the 104th Squadron. He was reported missing on November 19, 1942 after his Wellington II crew of six left Luqa, Malta airfield at 18:10 hours on a bombing raid over Catania. The aircraft was shot down over its target. James Fearnside was 22. He is buried at Agira War Cemetery, Sicily. He was posthumously awarded the Memorial Cross in 1943. FAGRIE, Robert WWII Robert was born in Brancepeth, Saskatchewan in 1917. He joined the Canadian Army and served overseas in England and France. His brother, Alfred, served with the Canadian Army in World War II in Canada, and his brother, Frank, served with the Home Guard. Robert passed away in 1978.
