LEST WE FORGET 141 ELLIOTT, Arthur “Art” WWII Arthur Elliott, son of John Wesley and Evelyn (Prior), moved with his family to the Wartime District in 1927. Art joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941 and spent the next five years shuttling back and forth across Canada from Newfoundland to Vancouver as a mechanic. In 1942, he married Evelyn Andrews of Ontario. They were blessed with a family of two boys and three girls. ELLIOTT, Howard Lee WWII Sgt. Howard Elliott was the son of Charles and Myrtle (Phipps) Elliott of Forgan, Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force and made the ultimate sacrifice. He was killed in action overseas on October 15, 1941, at the age of 24. Howard is remembered with honour at the Air Force Memorial at Runnymede, United Kingdom. There is also a lake in northern Saskatchewan, Elliott Lake, named in Howard’s memory. ELLIOTT, Bill Bill Elliott, son of Ken and Gwen Elliott, lived with his family in Wartime, Saskatchewan. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1956. In 1959, Bill married Mary Lorostil and after several moves with the Force, they made their home in Winnipeg, Manitoba where Bill retired from the Air Force.
