LEST WE FORGET 109 COMEAULT, Alfred Edward WWI Alfred was born in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, in 1895. He joined the First Depot Battalion Saskatchewan Regiment to serve during World War I. Alfred passed away in 1972. CONWAY, Thelma Emma WWII Thelma Emma Conway was born in Ardath in 1920. Her parents were George David and Alice Mary Rosina (Bennett) Conway. The family farmed in the Swanson area until they moved to Saskatoon in 1944. Meanwhile, in 1942, Thelma Emma Conway joined the Royal Canadian Air Force (Women’s Division) in Saskatoon where she worked as a secretary. Thelma married Ronald Charles Stager and moved to Welland, Ontario. They had two children named David Charles and Sandra Lynn. Following a divorce, Thelma married James Edmond Lockhart in 1971. She passed away on October 22, 1998 and is buried in Nairn Hill Cemetery, Nairn, Ontario. CONNOR, James Dowse “Jim” WWII James was born in Outlook, Saskatchewan on March 22, 1921. He was the only child of William and Florence Connor. Florence, an immigrant from Ireland, was the organist at St. Mark’s Anglican Church for many years. After finishing school in Outlook, Jim worked at the Outlook Flour Mill. In 1943, he joined the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps and was stationed in Regina. On December 20, 1944, he married Mildred Mary McKessock who was in the CWAC. After the war, Jim worked for Federated Co-op in Springwater for two years before moving to Abernethy, Saskatchewan where he farmed and managed the local Credit Union. In 1959, he was appointed Secretary for SUMA (Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association). The family moved to Regina where they lived until James accepted the position of Town Administrator in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan until 1984. James and Mildred had three children: Susan, Patricia and Elizabeth. James passed away in Regina on October 29, 2006. He is buried beside his wife in the Abernethy Cemetery.
