LEST WE FORGET 89 COOTE, Leslie D. WWII Leslie was born on March 2, 1920 in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the RCEME in March 1941. His combat duty included: D-Day, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany until his discharge in February 1945. He received the following Medals: 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and War Service Medal. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Bateman Branch 163 for over fifty years. Leslie passed away on February 28, 2004. CORSON, William WWII Bill was born in 1906 in Scotland. He immigrated to Canada in 1931 from Barr Head, Scotland. In 1937 they moved to the Parkman, Saskatchewan, area and he took up dog training. He joined the South Saskatchewan Regiment in 1939 and after taking his basic training and some advanced training, he was stationed in England. After the Invasion of Dieppe on August 19, 1942, word was received that Bill was missing in action, but it was later confirmed that he was killed in the initial invasion. Bill is buried in the Dieppe Canadian War Cemetery in Seine-Maritime, France. CORBETT, Kendall Doube WWII Kendall was born in 1914 in Ontario. He volunteered in 1939 but was not enrolled until January 25, 1943 in RCASC. He arrived in England in August 1943. His unit arrived in Sicily on October 1943, then to mainland Italy and was in Ortona and Rome. In February 1945, he was sent from Italy to France, Belgium and to Holland and Germany. He returned to Canada and was discharged on February 26, 1946. He was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, the Italy Star, the France and Germany Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and the 1939-1945 King George V War Medal. He was a proud lifelong member of The Royal Canadian Legion. Kendall passed away in 1986.
