LEST WE FORGET 85 COBB, Irvin “Bud” WWII Irvin Cobb was born on August 25, 1917 to George and Agnes Cobb of Outlook, Saskatchewan. He attended school in Outlook, contracting polio as a child. Irvin was working for the Canadian Pacific Railway when he enlisted on November 6, 1941. He served with the 11th and 14th Field Companies as a Sapper, building bridges and roads, and clearing mine fields throughout France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. During his service, he was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the 1939-1945 Star, the France and Germany Star and the Defence Medal. When he was discharged on December 5, 1945, he had attained the rank of Corporal. Irvin returned to Outlook, where he and his wife Agnes had a son, George, and a daughter, Catherine. He worked for the CPR until his retirement. Irvin was a member of Branch 262 of The Royal Canadian Legion. He died at the age of 77 and is buried in the Outlook Cemetery. COLTON, Gordon WWII Gordon was born in 1916 in Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in England as a Radar Technician for Bomber Aircrafts. Gordon’s son recalls his father telling about a time that he helped repair the radar equipment on one aircraft. It was understood that Gordon should go along with the crew to see that it was working as it should. Apparently, through unknown circumstances, Gordon was left behind at the base. He later heard that the aircraft bomber never did return home to England. Gordon passed away on June 20, 1997. COLES, Donald Lewis WWI &WWII Donald was born on February 5, 1898 in London, England. He joined the British Army in 1914 and was in Somme, France, when he was wounded and taken as a Prisoner of War until the Armistice. After the war, he went to the Foxdale District of Saskatchewan and started farming. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on July 2, 1944 as a Corporal and was stationed for a time in Calgary before being sent overseas. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Shellbrook Branch 111 from 1923 until his passing away in July 1946.
