LEST WE FORGET 49 ANDERSON, Johann Peter WWI Johann was born in Logberg, Saskatchewan, in 1894. He enlisted in the Army and served with the Canadian Machine Gun Corps in Canada, England, France and Belgium during World War I. He was wounded at Passchendaele Ridge and suffered a mustard gas attack. He was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal. Johann returned to the family farm but due to damaged lungs could not work in dust. He became a Postmaster in MacNutt, SK, for sixteen years. Johann passed away in 1946. ANHOLT, Harry Raymond WWII Raymond was born in 1919 in Outlook, Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the Army and served with the 7th Canadian Army Field Regiment Platoon RCASC 87th Artillery COY C.A.D. He was injured and hospitalized, then transferred to #3 Canadian Tipper Platoon RCASC. He went overseas in 1943 and returned home in 1946. He served in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He married Lois Preus in 1947 and they had six children. Raymond passed away in 1994. ANDERSON, Wayne Morris PEACETIME Wayne was born on October 1, 1943 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, to George and Olive Anderson. He enlisted in the Army in 1959 and was stationed at Camp Gagetown, New Brunswick, for three years, where he trained as a cook. Upon discharge, Wayne became a cook at the Saskatchewan Hospital, and then worked in several maintenance departments throughout the North Battleford Health Region.Wayne had a son, Kenny, from his first marriage, and later, married Sharon whom he was with for 29 years. Together they had a stepdaughter, Kerry and son, Jon. He was a proud member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 9. Wayne passed away on July 25, 2016 and is interred in the Veterans section in the Battleford Cemetery.
