LEST WE FORGET 371 WILSON, Ambrose James WWI Private Ambrose James Wilson was born on January 24, 1896 in Toronto, Ontario. He was the son of Nelson and Margaret Wilson of Birsay. He was a 19-year old single farmer living at Dunblane, Saskatchewan, when he enlisted at Saskatoon on November 17, 1915. Wilson served as a Private attached to the Canadian Infantry (Saskatchewan Regiment) 46th Battalion during the First World War. Known as the Suicide Battalion, the 46th fought in some of the bloodiest encounters of World War I. Private Wilson died of wounds at No. 6 Casualty Clearing Station on May 7, 1917 and is commemorated at the Barlin Communal Cemetery at Pas de Calais, France. His mother Margaret received a plaque and scroll, as well as a his Memorial Cross. Ambrose was 21 when he died. WINTER, Muriel Joy WWII Muriel was born on March 29, 1924 in Tyner, Saskatchewan. She enlisted with the CWAC on August 21, 1944 and served in Canada until her discharge on March 4, 1946. She took a nursing aid course and later became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Muriel passed away on September 22, 1968. WILSON, Thomas Harvey WWII Thomas was born on February 9, 1925 in Parkman, Saskatchewan. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force as soon as he was eighteen and he graduated as an Air Gunner with his commission as a Pilot Officer. He was then posted to Bomber Command and took O.T.U. in Scotland. Thomas was killed on June 8, 1944 on a night training flight in a Halifax. He is buried at Stonefall Cemetery in Yorkshire, England. Thomas was nineteen years old.
