LEST WE FORGET 369 WHITTAKER, John Thomas WWII John was born in Salvador in 1923. He served during World War II in the Air Force in England with unit 431. He was a Life Member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 193 in Vauxhall. He says he was sworn into The Legion in Regina in 1946. WILLIAMS, Edward Forsaith WWII Edward was born on December 5, 1917 in Garden Head, Saskatchewan. He joined the Armed Forces in October 1940 and after a month in the SSR, he transferred to the RCAF. He was married on June 3, 1944 to Irene Wilkie, and received his embarkation notice to the UK on August 29. He was sent to India and served with 435 Squadron. On January 12, 1945 the Dakota aircraft was shot down by a Japanese fighter while dropping supplies to the 14th British Army. The plane crashed and there were no survivors. Edward was 27 years old. WIEBE, John WWII John was born on July 1, 1918 on a farm near Altona, Manitoba. He enlisted with the Army and served with the 17th Field Regiment, RCA, Canadian Armoured Division in England, Italy and Holland. John passed away on June 14, 1983.
