LEST WE FORGET 327 ROSS, E. Roman WWI &WWII Roman was born in 1895 in St. Lazare, Manitoba. He served in the First World War overseas in England and France with the 1st and 5th Battalion from 1914 to 1918. He was Honourably discharged on April 12, 1919 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He served in the Veterans Guard of Canada during the Second World War. Roman passed away on February 26, 1946 while in the service in the internment camp in Lethbridge, Alberta. RUETHER, Garland Wilbur WWII Garland was born in 1920 in Penzance, Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the Army on July 11, 1941 at 12 District Depot in Saskatoon. He served as a Vehicle Mechanic with the 5th Infantry Brigade, 2nd Division RCASC in Canada, England, France, Germany, and Holland until his discharge on January 18, 1946. He received the 1939-1945 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and a “Thank You” Medal from the people of Holland (presented to his wife in 2003). He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for thirty years. Garland passed away in 1981. ROULSTON, James Craig WWII James was born on February 1, 1881 in Spring Vale, Ontario. He moved with his family from Hagersville, ON, to the Prince District of Saskatchewan in 1909. he homesteaded there on a quarter section of land. He joined the Army during the First World War and served with the 5th Battalion, Saskatchewan Regiment, Canadian Infantry in France and Belgium. James was killed in action in Belgium on September 21, 1917. He is buried in the Tournai Communal Cemetery, Allied Extension, Belgium.
