LEST WE FORGET 321 RICHARDSON, Fred WWII Fred was born in 1917 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He joined the Regina Rifles Regiment in North Battleford in 1940, going first to Calgary where he took a course as a small arms instructor. He arrived in England in September 1941, where he took four more courses at an English Military School. He took part in the D-Day landings on June 6, 1944. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for 38 years. Fred passed away in 1993. RICHARDSON, Kenneth R. WWII Kenneth was born in 1914 in Rawalpindi, India. He was the son of a British soldier; his initials reflect his father’s regiment, the Kings Royal Rifles. His family moved to Canada when he was a boy. His military career started as a Cadet. His medical problems led to him training troops prior to them going overseas. After the Second World War, he served for a time in the North Saskatchewan Regiment Militia as its Commanding Officer. He was active in voluntary service, including the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 349, the St. John’s Ambulance and the Masons. Kenneth passed away in 2004. RICHARDSON, George Arthur WWII George was born on July 17, 1917 to William Bell and Jemima Mary (Kidd) Richardson. After completing his schooling, George joined the Infantry Division of the Canadian Army in 1942. He was stationed in Nanaimo and Port Alberni, BC, and then in New Brunswick. He was discharged in 1944 due to medical reasons. In 1947, George married Millicent Fuller and they raised two children: Colleen, born in 1951; and Allan, born in 1954. Millicent passed away in 1966, and George passed away in January 2000.
