LEST WE FORGET 305 PIKE, Ronald Malcolm WWII Ronald was born in Forest Bank, Saskatchewan, in 1917. He served in the Army in Canada, England and in Europe during World War II. Ronald was a farmer. He was very active in the community and was a member of many organizations. He was a Life Member of The Royal Canadian Legion and Board Member on Waseca Credit Union for more than forty years. Ronald passed away on October 25, 1996. PRATT, David WWII David enlisted in the RCAF in 1940. He transferred to Britain in 1941 where he flew bombers for the RAF at Flagstrome. He was killed in action in May 1943 when his plane was in a fight with a German plane. There was a mid-air collision over the North Sea. PORTER, Charles Rae WWII Rae was born in Edmonton, Alberta, on April 26, 1921. He and his mother moved to Turtleford in 1931. Rae enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on December 14, 1940. He was stationed in Brandon, Regina, Medicine Hat and Halifax. Graduating as a pilot, he was posted overseas to England in 1941 and flew Spitfires for the Royal Air Force. He was also posted to Bombay, India, where he was killed in action in 1944. Rae was reported missing on April 25, 1944 while flying over mountainous areas in support of forward troops. Described by his Wing Commander of the 62nd Squadron as his best pilot and one of his most capable officers, at this time Rae was a Flying Officer. Rae’s name is on the Singapore Memorial. His decorations include the Burma Star, Defence Medal 1939-1945, Star for Action, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the Cross of Valour.
