LEST WE FORGET 301 PEPPER, Frank WWI Frank was born in Leiston, Suffolk, England, in 1882. As a young man he apprenticed as a machinist prior to immigrating to Canada in 1904. He returned to England in 1909 to marry the love of his life, Agnes Ransby, thereafter returning with Agnes to homestead at Holbein, SK, near Prince Albert. Frank enlisted in the Army on May 6, 1916 in Prince Albert and served in the Canadian 44th Battalion under British command as part of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. He suffered war-ending injuries at Vimy Ridge on May 10, 1917 when he was hit by a shell, severely injuring his right arm and both legs. Frank received an Honourable Discharge on June 1, 1918. He was honoured to receive a British War Medal and a Victory Medal for his service. No longer able to farm, Frank returned home and made his career as a telephone operator at Shellbrook, SK. Frank and Agnes raised three boys and three girls. Frank passed away on March 3, 1963. PERRY, John WWII John was born on August 19, 1921 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He joined the Canadian Army Active in November 1942 and became a Signaler in the Artillery. He served in England, France, Holland, Belgium and Germany until his discharge in February 1946 with the Rank of Lance Corporal. He was an active member of The Royal Canadian Legion for about thirty years. John passed away in November 1984. In 2003, his wife received the Dutch Medal, which was given in recognition of the Canadians who freed Holland. PEPPER, Frederick WWII Frederick was born in 1914 in Rozilee, Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the Army and served with the RCOC as Staff Sergeant in Regina during the war. He was a Chartered Accountant. Frederick passed away in 2003.
