LEST WE FORGET 297 PECK, Albert E. WWII Albert was born in 1901 in England. He joined the Army in 1941in Grenfell, Saskatchewan. He received military training in Regina and was stationed there at 12th District Depot Military Fire Hall. He spent time in Hamilton, ON, and Camp Shilo, MB. He broke his ankle while at Camp Shilo and was sent back to Regina where he spent the remainder of his military career at the 12th District Military Fire Hall. He received an Honourable Discharge in 1944. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Abernethy Branch for 39 years. Albert passed away in 1984. PEEL, Alfred “Alf” WWII Alf was born near Foam Lake, Saskatchewan, in the Ladstock District of Saskatchewan. He served from 1944 to 1946 with Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in Italy, Holland, Belgium and in occupied Germany. He returned home and farmed. Later, he lived in Foam Lake. Alf has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Foam Lake Branch 16. PECK, Edward J. PEACETIME Edward was born in 1951 in Balcarres, Saskatchewan. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1969 and received his basic training in Cornwallis, ON. He spent one year on HMCS Gatineau and then onto HMCS Provider in Esquimalt. His tour of duty took him to California, Sidney, Australia, Christ Church, New Zealand, Island of Tonga and the Hawaiian Islands. He retired from the Navy in 1973 and returned to civilian life. Edward passed away in 2003 in Nanaimo, BC.
