LEST WE FORGET 285 NORDICK, Alfred E. WWII Alfred was born in 1921 in Englefeld, Saskatchewan. He was eighteen years old when he joined the 49th (later The Loyal) Edmonton Regiment in High Prairie, Alberta, on April 4, 1940. He trained in Currie Barracks before going overseas in August 1940. He served in the United Kingdom, Sicily and Italy. He married Marjorie, of the Land Army, in Sussex, England on June 5, 1943. He was discharged in 1945 and was a member of four different Legions for fifty years. Alfred passed away in April 1996. NYREROD, Herbert WWII Herbert joined the Air Force in 1940 and went overseas. After the war he returned, with his war bride, Kathy, and settled in Winnipeg. Herbert passed away on September 20, 1972. NYREROD, Ben WWI Ben served during the First World War. His three children, Bill, Herbert and Lena, all served in the Armed Forces during the SecondWorldWar. Ben passed away on May 22, 1981.
