LEST WE FORGET 281 NELSON, Paul Marvin WWII Paul was born in 1911 in DeLamiere, North Dakota. He enlisted with the Army and served with the 11th Car, C Squad, Ont. Tanks in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe until his discharge. Paul received the 1939-1945 Star, the Italy Star, the France and Germany Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, and the War Medal 1939-1945. He joined Spiritwood Branch of The Royal Canadian Legion in 1961. Paul passed away in 1997. NICHOLAS, Archie WWII Archie was born in 1920 in Duck Lake, Saskatchewan. He enlisted with the Army and served with the Mediterranean Force, 8th Army, 2nd Canadian Brigade in England and Italy until his discharge. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Duck Lake Branch 246. Archie passed away in 2006. NEWTON (BAINS), Florence Mary “Flo” WWII Flo was born in Derbyshire, England on June 4, 1923. She moved with her family to Canada and settled in Lestock. She joined the Air Force in 1943 and did her basic training in Rockcliffe, Ontario, as a Switchboard Operator. She was stationed at Brantford, Guelph, Vulcan, Pat Bay, Calgary and Winnipeg. After her discharge on November 26, 1946, she worked in Winnipeg at Stowell Printing Company and later moved to Regina to work at the King’s Hotel as Desk Clerk and Switchboard Operator. She married and moved to Semans. She was an active member of the Semans Auxiliary for over forty years and a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 108 for 28 years. Flo passed away on July 28, 2015.
