LEST WE FORGET 275 MURDOCK (NOBLE), Jessie WWII Jessie was born in 1918 in Neville, Saskatchewan. She enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force and served with the Eastern Air Command, Intelligence Section in Canada. She trained in Moncton, NB, and was based in Halifax, NS. She married Russell Murdock in 1948. Jessie passed away in 1999. MURRAY, David William WWII David was born on February 28, 1921 in Estevan, Saskatchewan. He joined the South Saskatchewan Regiment in Weyburn in 1939 when the war broke out. He had stops in Shilo, MB, and Toronto, ON, before sailing for England in 1940. He trained in England but missed the Dieppe raid due to a traffic accident with a civilian vehicle. However, after D-Day, the SSR sailed for France and Normandy. David was killed in action on July 27, 1944, near Falaise, France. He is buried in the Bretteville-sur-Laize Canadian War Cemetery in France. MURRAY, Alexander WWI Alexander was born on April 14, 1880 in Longhorsley, England. He joined the 249th Battalion Canadian Expeditionary Force in Estevan, Saskatchewan, on November 17, 1916. He served in the 5th Canadian Infantry Brigade in Canada, England and France. He stayed on after Armistice Day with the Army of Occupation in Germany. He was discharged on April 24, 1919. He was a Charter Member and long-time employee of The Royal Canadian Legion Estevan Branch 60. Alexander passed away in 1974.
